Chem-E-Car

Chem-E-Car is a club where we work as a team to design a car powered and stopped by chemical reactions. We typically build a battery-powered car, so some team members work on the battery, some work on the chemistry for the stopping reaction, and some work on the electronics. We also get to choose a name and decorate our car however we want! Not only is it a fun way to meet other engineers, but it’s also great hands-on experience with problem-solving and teamwork.

Last year, our chapter’s Chem-E-Car team placed at regionals and competed in the 2023 AIChE Annual Student Conference in Orlando, FL, winning the Safety and Chemical Engineering (SAChE) award. The team will compete in the 2025 regionals competition in the upcoming spring semester.
